Used Book Sale at Historical Society of Cheshire County May 3-11th

Book lovers will be glad to know that the 24th annual used book sale at the Historical Society of Cheshire County is scheduled for Friday, May 3rd through Saturday, May 11th at the Historical Society’s headquarters at 246 Main Street in Keene. The Historical Society will have about 5,000 used books on hand for the popular fundraising event. The proceeds of the book sale support the Historical Society’s programs to collect, preserve, and communicate the history of Cheshire County.

For those who want the first choice of the available books, a limited number of timed-entry tickets are available for the first day of the book sale, Friday, May 3. Prices range from $35 for the first time slot, 10 am to 11:30 am, to $10 for the final time slot, 2:30 pm to 4 pm. Each time slot on the first day will be limited to 12 people. Tickets for timed entry go on sale at noon on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the Historical Society’s website, www.hsccnh.org. After the first day, there will be no charge for admission, and the public is welcome.

On Saturday, May 4, the book sale will run from 9 am to noon. Most books will sell for $2.00 each, and a special selection of higher-priced books will be available. Tuesday, May 7 through Thursday, May 9, the book sale will run from 9 am to 4 pm, and most books will sell for $1 each. Then, on Friday, May 10 from 9 am to 4 pm, book buyers can fill a bag of books for $5. On the final day, Saturday, May 11 from 9 am to noon, people can fill a bag for $1 and the higher priced books will be ½ off.

Donations of books are being accepted at the Historical Society of Cheshire County until April 19, please call ahead 603.352.1895. The society encourages hardcover books that cover topics such as history, biography, antiques, art, architecture, cookbooks, travel, fiction, and children’s books. The society will not accept donations of textbooks, older fiction, encyclopedias, magazines, DVDs, CDs, or mass-market paperbacks.

Book buyers will also be able to buy Alan Rumrill new book, “Stoddard” which was released in April 2024. The Historical Society’s Museum Store carries a variety of items with connections to Cheshire County including books by local and regional authors.

The Society serves as a contemporary hub for people to connect through history, art, culture, and the environment through their own lens and personal experience.
