Richard Little is coming back with a fantastic geology program on Saturday, August 27th! This free outdoor event will take place at FirstLight’s Northfield Mountain Riverview Pavilion. It will begin with a 45-minute talk, followed by a 45-minute walk up to the parking area. Franklin County is the best place in the world to study geology. You will see evidence of colliding continents, dinosaur fossils, armored mud balls, and lava, plus the glacial history of drumlins, eskers, and Lake Hitchcock! This illustrated presentation will be accompanied by samples, maps, and a driving guide for you to explore further.

Two time slots are available and seating is limited so please register in advance at www.bookeo.com/northfield. Choose from 10:30 until noon, or 1:00 until 2:30 p.m.

Professor Richard D. Little “discovered” the Connecticut River Valley of Massachusetts after coming from California to teach at Greenfield Community College 52 years ago, and realized this was an incredible place for geology. He has written several books and discovered the rare and unique Jurassic armored mud balls. He is heading a project to have them be officially recognized by the State of Massachusetts, along with 50+ other State “Symbols”.
