Walk from page to page and enjoy the enchanting children’s story, The Salamander Room at Firstlight’s Northfield Mountain. A young boy’s imagination goes wild as he transforms his bedroom into a woodland paradise. Colorful, detailed paintings illustrate the salamander’s habitat needs. Our April StoryWalk® migrates from Riverview to Fuller’s Field where the trails, fields and forest provide the perfect backdrop for your family adventure filled with reading, walking and exploring. Vernal pools tucked along the edges of the forested trails are breeding habitat for wood frogs and spotted salamanders. Look for jelly-like clusters of frog and salamander eggs in these temporary ponds.
Download a trail map via our website, www.firstlightpower.com/recreation or take a photo of our trail sign behind the Visitors Center. Walk past the parking lot and head uphill along-side the paved entrance road. Our StoryWalk® begins on the left side of the road near the security gate.
