On Saturday, September 10th at 2 pm, Toadstool Bookshops will host a free In-Person Event with two wonderful authors in conversation about their books, Paula Francis & Chrstina.
Paula Francis has written a memoir of her 10,000 mile walk around the US in which she interviewed people asking the important question “What matters most in life?” The idea came from a trip to Bhutan where she learned happiness indicators are used as a measure of the country’s success and progress. Comparing this to the US, where we look at Gross National Product (our wealth or lack thereof), Paula became interested in finding out what people in the US value that leads to a greater sense of happiness and well-being.
Paula worked with a research team from the University of Vermont compiling data gleaned from her walk experiences. She completed the Walk in November 2019 and spent the better part of the “lockdown” writing her memoir, 18 Pair of Shoes.
Christine Noyes, has authored several children’s books as well as a memoir and mystery novels. Christine’s memoir, Close Enough to Perfect, includes an “almost perfect”
marriage which ended in tragedy when her husband, Al, died unexpectedly while on vacation. She bases many of her children’s stories on Al’s outgoing and carefree personality, a testament to the amazing partnership they shared for almost 30 years.
Her Bradley Whitman mystery series include characters readers fall in love with and page-turning intrigue that leaves you anticipating the next in the series.
