The Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire is currently launching the 2022 Elinor Williams Hooker Tea Talk Series, a free virtual and in-person series, Courageous Conversations: Leaning in for Change. These presentations and community dialogues will be held on 6 consecutive Sundays beginning Sunday, February 6 through Sunday, March 13, 2022, from 2:00 – 3:30 pm.
Race relationships in America have become increasingly tumultuous in the last few years. A rise in protests, education controversy and incidents of racial violence, based in a history of racial injustice, tension and fear, have returned to the country’s center stage. These challenges perpetuate the divide between different racial and ethnic groups, as we face the reality that much of our history related to racism has been minimized or erased.
With the 2022 Elinor Williams Hooker Tea Talk Series, the Black Heritage Trail of NH invites the public to come together to build a safe space for meaningful dialogue and exchange. With a foundation in history and lived experiences, these discussions will investigate pieces of our racial past that have been ignored, and the current issues that continue to create tension in our communities.
